I Overheard

I overheard her on the phone say,

“You know that I always get what I want.”

And I thought you’re kidding me eh,

But my opinion I would not taunt.

No sir, it wasn’t worth the trouble,

I could see by her building state;

No sir, it wasn’t worth the squabble

When her ego was out of the gate.

Now maybe more I should have said,

But easier my tongue to hold,

My God, to get into her head,

No sir, I’d not be so bold.

But really! “Always getting what you want.”

Can you imagine having the nerve?

And now with your arrogance to haunt,

I’m saying, “We mostly get what we deserve.”
