Football Metaphors

Like a football kicked around
I listened to all points of view;
Some were crazy and some were sound,
But a touchdown no one threw.

So back to the playbook we went,
Offence, defence X's and O's,
Until no one knew what was meant
And in the huddle we came to blows.

A flag was thrown and timeout called
And we regrouped on the sidelines;
With one play left and our offence stalled,
We as a group had lost our minds.

But still there was the slimmest chance
To snatch a victory from defeat;
This football metaphor at a glance,
Man, the Hail Mary play's pretty sweet.

And so in life we kick around
All these footballs meant to cope,
Until it is our ups and downs,
Leave us lastly with only hope.
